01: Mood-Stabilizer / Parts 1 & 2 (36.23) *split over 2 sides of vinyl*

Hailing from Boston, USA, Perhaps are another band I have not come across before but thanks to Andy Smith over at Riot Season records, I have the opportunity to listen to and review the apply titled V which is their fifth release to date.

The album contains one track Mood Stabilizer parts 1 & 2 which are split over both sides of the vinyl and comes in at 36min 23sec long.

The album starts off with a slow beat before the metronomic tempo kicks in with a saxophone in the background weaving in and out of the pulsating synthesizers beat. very reminiscent of Tangerine Dream or early 70’s Krautrock, it has a hypnotic feel that just draws you in leading up and onward to where it becomes more like a free form jam session with a jazzy feel as it washes over you. No one instrument dominates or steals focus from the whole, it’s just a truly epic piece of music. I for one would certainly like to seek out their earlier releases.

Limited to 300 copies on black vinyl this first issues also come with an OBI strip, 75 copies also come with a “V:Redux” CD-R, I  highly recommend that you head on over to Riot Season Records and pre-order a copy as these won’t hang around for too long.
